Our Mission, Goals, & Values

The mission of Bedford Community Table/Pantry, Inc. is to fight food insecurity and honor the dignity of all community members by supporting food assistance efforts in and around Bedford, MA.

Overview

After several years participating in the Greater Boston Walk for Hunger, a local family decided to bring the fight against hunger closer to home. In January 1991 they began seeking volunteers and filing forms, and six months later the Bedford Community Table/Pantry became a reality. The organization has nonprofit 501(c)(3) status and is recognized as a charity by the IRS and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. It is staffed solely by volunteers, and funded by donations from individuals, corporations and other organizations.

Until the 2020 pandemic, each Thursday volunteers prepared a complimentary community dinner for all at the Bedford Town Center on Mudge Way, and packed and handed out bags of groceries to area residents who needed assistance.

Starting in March 2020, the food pantry operation went on hiatus and began supporting the town’s Bedford Food Bank and other local food assistance nonprofits with food, money and volunteers. We are now the primary source of ongoing financial support for the Bedford Food Bank.

Bedford Community Table/Pantry, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)3 corporation. Our EIN is 04-3128840.
